Powering Tyranny

Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd President of the United States, once said:

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."

Your task:

1.) Define the word tyranny - tyranny is the extreme of overpowering over someone.

2.) What does it mean to have a good conscience? When you have a good conscience you can control how you feel, and what you feel and even what to day when the time is right.

3.) In your own words, what does this quote mean to you? This quote means that people should have some kind of sympathy for those who have the brains.

Becoming The Enemy

Jean Genet, a French novelist and political activist once stated:
"If we behave like those on the other side, then we ARE the other side. Instead of changing the world, all we'll achieve is a reflection of the one we want to destroy."
Your task:

1.) What does this quote mean to you? To me this quote means : don't be over over ruled by the opponent if you dislike them today you shall too tomorrow.

2.) Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? I agree .

3.) How do you think this applies to what we have read in Animal Farm? (hint: Think about the commandants, who is the enemy? Who are the pigs starting to act like?) the pigs are starting to act like Jones, and even worst. The commandments are being changed throughout the book and everything is going downhill.

Striking Fear

Claudian, a Roman poet once said:

“He who strikes terror into others is himself in continual fear.”
My interpretation of this quote is that once you create a boogeyman for someone else, you've mentally had it inside of you before that.

2.) What character in Animal Farm might the quote apply to? What might he be fearful of?

In animal farm a character that the quote might apply to is Nepolean. Nepolean might be fearful of the animals revolting against him, and finding out all his lies and schemes.

Bill Of Rights for Whom ?

The government has power over a lot in a country. The government pays for many things for many people in a country. Although, the United States government has no control over the culture of people. Culture comes from within and once you take away someones heritage, you take away who they are.
Once the government takes away someones culture and tries to control their every move their is no human beauty.
Yes many people do come from other countries to live here. Although, that doesn't give any right to anyone but the person itself to change culture. If someone decided to support and follow regulations of another culture, fine. Though no one has the right tot sit here and control someones heritage. Many parts of the U.S constitution would be violated in a government engaging in this. For example freedom of speech.
In the United States, freedom of speech has always been a big deal. Many debates have been brought upon because of this amendment. Some folks may not understand that a heritage creates personality.

Jews During The Holocaust & The Native Americans During The Westward Expansion (1880's)

The Jews faced tragedies and extinction. On the other hand the Native Americans faced property lost. Which even though both faced genocide in some way, even if the Jews faced it physically the Native Americans faced it mentally. Their treatment's we're similar because a group of other people from other ethnicity's treated them harshly.
The Native Americans were taken from their homes, from their culture, pushed away from a land they had found themselves. The Jews were also taken from their homes and culture, though they were taken away to work for the Germans as slaves because one man didnt't want them to live as regular human beings in the world they were brought to.

Important People .

Adolf Hitler - Is the leader of the Nazis, he wanted to control every country and get rid of all the Jews. Hitler led the SS German army as well. Although, ironically Hitler's great grandmother was Jewish. Meaning Hitler had Jewish blood in him even though he considered himself just German. Hitler was an animal and he deserved death in every way. In what mind would it fit to kill your own race, and not just one person but, thousands of people. Not only people but, innocent children. Karma does her job well. Thank's to the Americans who actually freed the Jews from their misery.

Nearing The End .

The Holocaust ended in : 1945 at the end of World War 2 .
How : The Holocaust ended because of World War 2 caused by a global conflict between all of the countries, once the American army came as in ally into Germany the Jew's were instantly freed .
Hitlers fate was he committed suicide in his underground bunker.
Reading this book opened my perception and made me more aware of the past events, and more cautious towards what might come next and for myself to be much more prepared .

Genocide, today ?

Genocide is repeating itself in Iraq because the Americans are trying to terminate their ethnicity. I personally believe " History repeats itself" because the Holocaust was the first sign of genocide in the world, and right now the Iraqis are going through a rough time in life with the Americans.

Title Night .

Wiesel's reason for choosing the title "Night" for his book was that it meant something else to him. The fact that he used to study at night and live his regular life as a thirteen-year old. That all changed, he soon became a slave and his night's were nights of hope and despair at the same time. For me Night personally represents screams God can't hear.

Meaning Of The Swastika .

Original meaning - The swastika is an extremely powerful symbol. The Nazis used it to murder millions of people, but for centuries it had positive meanings.

The symbol has changed because it was a horrible symbol that people often thought was a positive meaning. It has changed because now everyone knows the real meaning of it and how it is a horrible symbol .

The book "Night" is quite interesting, I mean like after we watched the video about the Jews and the camps the book seems much more interesting.

Humanities Assignment 2 - No Escape?

The prisoners of the Holocaust were not known to revolt against their captors. Even when they became aware of their probable fate, they did not gather together to start a revolution or try to escape.

What do you believe was their reasoning?

The prisoners of the Holocaust never revolted because they had hope. The soldiers and higher power leaders used to gas their minds and say "someday you'll get out of here." When in reality they would lie to them and make then believe they'll actually get out of the camp's. The prisoners would be separated from their close ones and never see them again because they would get killed at other camps. I believe that if they would of revolted they would of beat the Nazis. The Nazis couldn't possibly revolt against millions of people at once.

is history worth studying ?

I hate the Nazi's rip every Jew that died on those campuses.

History Is definitely worth studying because it expands your knowledge on your racist, your country, etc. Studying helps you remember what you went over during class. History should be something easy to talk about because it's like foot steps of the past.

One day we'll be history, wouldn't you want to be studied ?
I'm reading this book called "Bad Girl's Don't Die" and it's awesome .
